BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces Certification Pilot Successfully Completed

As published by BOMA Canada

25 November 2015, Toronto, ON – BOMA BEST®, Canada’s leading environmental certification program for commercial real estate, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Sustainable Workplaces pilot project. BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces helps organizations become more sustainable by providing a standardized management system framework to manage and improve their environmental performance both inside and outside of the commercial real estate they occupy.

“Through a process of extensive stakeholder engagement, BOMA Canada identified the need for the new BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces module. As a new pathway for continual improvement, BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces provides a unique way for an organization to obtain recognition of their own sustainability efforts while also supporting sustainable building operations, tenant engagement and employee satisfaction,” said Benjamin Shinewald, President and Chief Executive Officer of BOMA Canada.

“We’re extremely proud of our tenants for participating and succeeding in the BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces program,” said Judy Wall, Vice President of East Port Properties. “At East Port Properties, we encourage and support all of our tenants to participate wherever we can to bring their environmental initiatives to life. Together, we’re creating more sustainable buildings, and better workplaces.”

BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces requires organizations to understand, monitor and improve their performance in the areas of energy, water, waste, e-waste, space construction and renovation, procurement practices, business and employee travel and indoor air quality. BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces is designed to be completed entirely in-house, and will be launched publicly in early 2016.

BOMA Canada congratulates the following organizations for being the first in Canada to successfully complete certification of their workplaces to the requirements of BOMA BEST® Sustainable Workplaces.
